Overview

Hooktext is a universal search and navigation tool. The idea is to start the search directly from any editor (e.g. MyFriend, X32, UltraEdit) by using the Hooktext hotkeys. To specify which folders and files have to be searched use the project properties dialog. By double-clicking a result line the external editor is called from Hooktext to open the file at the correct line number.

Usage

It is possible to use the hotkeys or the context menu Search files.

If Hooktext is minimized the icon can be found in the system tray. Clicking the icon or using the hotkeys will display the application window again.

To get access to the menu click the system's menu (small icon in the upper left of the Hooktext window).

Above the output window is a status bar where the following switches can be found (from left to right): The 'traffic light' toggles between Always in foreground and Normal. The next three switches are the search parameters Case sensitive, Only whole words and Show results in comments. By pressing the Go! button the last search can be repeated. Stop stops a running search.

Example

Search patterns have different colors depending on the context (comment or not). The colors can be chosen in the properties dialog.
